CRICKET.

At a meeting of tho Otago Cricket Association on the 23rd inst., it.was stated that as a result of the recent visit of an Otago team to Christchurch the Canterbury men,were willing to play a return match in Dunedin, and would pay their own cxnenses, as the Dunedin team had done. It was resolved to invite Canterbury players to play a two day's match in Dunedin on February 23'and 25 in aid of the Returned Soldiers' Building Fund. Messrs Martin, Keast. and Galland were appointed a Selection Committee. FIRST GRADE, The match Grange v. Mornington was played on the Caledonian Ground. Scores: played on the Caledonian Ground) and resulted in "a win for Mornington. Grange were disposed of for 65 to which the Mornington responded with 142. The match Albion v. St. Kilda was played at Carisbrook on ' a perfect wicket, and resulted in an easy win for Albion. Brinsley, who 'made 103 not out, scored' the first century in senior cricket this year His score included 12 fours, and was got by good strokes all round the wicket. His innings was chancel-ess. Monk batted vigorously for 60. which included threw sixes and five fours. M'Neil, a promoted junior, bowled well for Albion. Jones (40 not out) was the only St. Kilda batsman to nioko a stand. SECOND GRADE, Grange had a very narrow win-over Mornington by 2 runs. Grange made 43 (Thomas 14, Forrester 10), and Mornington made 41 (Anderson 10, Ingram 12, M'Naughton 11 not out). Stevens took 4 wickets for 15, M'Lennan 6 for 23 for the losers. Bell (6 wickets for 17) and Forrester (4 for 19) bowled well for Grange. ' THIRD GRADE. Albion defeated Mornington on the Asylum Ground by 11 runs. Albion compiled 54 (Elliott 28, A. Riach 7). and Mornington 43 (Colbert 19 not out). Elliott (5 wickets) and Spedding (3 wickets) were Albion's best bowlers, while Hellyer bowled well for the losers. The Overseas team won from the South End Schools by default. LEAGUE CRICKET. Standard 89 (Quest 24, Osten 22 not out) defeated Railway 38 (Duckworth 15). Bowling for Standard, Ingram captured five wickets for 10 runs, and Richomnd four for 22, and bowling for Railway Aitken took two for nil, M'jSTamee, 2 for 13, and DuckwoVth four fox 27. WELLINGTON v. CANTERBURY. WELLINGTON, January 22. For the continuation of the WellingtonCanterbury cricket match tho weather was perfect. Canterbury made a bettvr showing in their second inings, putting up 228. Gray knocked up a vigorous 87, which included a sixer and nino 4's. At the conclusion of play on Monday the

AUCKLAND, January 23, The interprovincial cricket match, Auckland v. Wellington was commenced to-day in fine, but cloudy, weather. The wicket wwf good, and the outfield fast and hard.
