BRITISH INDUSTRIAL FAIRS.
OVERSEAS DOMINIONS NOT TO BE NOTIFIED. WELLINGTON, January 19. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received through tho Governorgeneral a communication from the Secretary of State for tho Colonies to the effect that while it has always been the desire of the Board of Trade that genuine British manufacturers domiciled in British Overseas Dominions should exhibit at industrial fairs organised by the board in Great Britain, in view of the difficulties connected with sea transport and the increased nuber of restrictions affecting the importation of various classes of goods covered by the fairs, it appears to the board to be useless to invite manufacturers in the dominions to exhibit at the British Industries Fairs to be held in London and Glasgow from February - 6 to March 8 next - year, and they do not propose therefore to issue notifications to those countries. The Board of Trade adds that after the termination of hostilities fairs will continue to be organised on a far larger scale than is practicable under existing conditions, and they propose that every possible facility be given manufacturers in the dominions to avail themselves of the advantages afforded by such fairs in bringing their goods "to the notice of buyers for both British and foreign markets.
