BALLOT ANOMALIES.

Alexander Allan Callandar, Morning'ton, enlisted 21 months ago, but was rejected Arthur J. Lyon and Sydney N. B. Wynne both tried to enlist as soon as they became of age, but owing to th,e Medical Board pot holding an examination during the holidays their names were not starred. James Clark, of Glenove, -who has been callecli up by ballot, attained his twentieth birthday on Decmeber 29, and then endeavoured to enlist, but, like other young men who came of age during the holidays, was prevented from doing so through the Defence offices being closed. John Egan offered his services a few days after the attainment of his twentieth birthday, but, owing to the holidays, he was afforded no opportunity to enlist voluntarily.

A correspondent at Tapanui informs us that Ewen Livingstone Sinclair, whose name is in the Clutha- ballot, enlisted oarly last year, and is now at the front.

Russell Francis Kitto, of Alexandra, informs us 'that he enlisted On reaching the age of 20 years on December 16, was medically examined and passed as fit, and ordered to parade for camp on April 2.
