In view of the fact that Milton's conservatism in many things has become proverbial, it is interesting to note (says the Bruce Herald) that of the five commissioners appointed to deal with the call from St. Andrew's Church, Wellington, two of them were ladies. As far as can be ascertained this is the first, in the historv of Presbyterianism in New Zealand when ladies have been elected to such an office. It will be noted that in addressing the Deacon's Court they carried out their duties "'manfully."
