OAMARU STOCK MARKET. CFBOU 008 OWU COUBESPONDBNT.) OAMARU, January 12. The week has been a q'uiet one in the stock market, very few transactions being reported. The prices fixed by buyers of lambs and sheep for export, which are appreciably lower than those prevailing last year, have had a depressing effect upon the values of all classes of sheep. This in turn has oaused a distinct slackening of business, for the readiness to sell and the eagerness to buy have both been discounted to some extent. Speculation in lambs for forward delivery, which had been proceeding for some time, has been checked for the time being, at any rate, 'whatever may happen later, when prices _ reach a settled basis. A few transactions in sheep are reported, the chief covering 700 four and sixtooth store wethers, which changed hands at 275, Other sales were made at the following prices:—Shorn full-mouthed ewes, with lambs, 18s 6d ; full and failing-mouthed ewes, 225; two-tooth store wethers. 26s 9d; four-tooth wethers for March delivery, 24s 6d; fat ewes, 323.
