OTAGO LAND BOARD.

The regular meeting of the Land Board was held on tho 9th, there being present Messrs R. T. Sadd (Commissioner of Crown Lands), G. Livingstone, T. A. Munro, Jas. Smith, and C. J. Inder.

Applications to Transfers. —6a Plunket Settlement, Edward Stokes to Ernest Butt. —Approved. Section 17a, block IV, Tiger Hill, Andrew Easton Robertson to Emma Hughes.—Recommended for approval. Sfection 42, block V, Shotover, James Shaw to Thomas Allan and John Gartly Allan—Approved subject to revision of rent. Section 1 of 29, block V, Otokia, Peter Loitch" to Frank Lott. —Approved subject to revision of rent. Applications for Freehold. —Section 4, block XV, Rimu, 112 acres, James Ralph Harris.—lssue of title approved, of. Application by C. R. Churchill to- purchase freehold of sections 88 and 97, block VIII, Leaning Rock. —Declined. Henry A. Dickey applied for section 41, block I, Bannockburn, area 24a 2r 26p, on occupation lease. —Application finally approved; rental Is per acre per annum, subject to reservation of road to Halloway's run ; and on condition that lessee bo responsible for damage to Cairnmuir coal pits through flow' of water from the land comprised in the lease. Disposal of section 19, block I, Bonmore (stock reserve). —A tender was received from J. S. Woods at 2s 6d per acre and a telegraphic offer was made by "Shanks." —J. S. Woods's tender at 2s 6d per acre per annum accepted; licensee to fence section, and to leave an area of three acres for the use of travelling stock. D. Cochrane applied , for a- grazing license over education reserve, section 3. block XXX, town of Lawrence.—Approved at a rental to bo fixed.

William Kenny applied for a grazing license over about 63 acres of land in block 11, St. Bathans district, between the township and section 37.—Grazing license from year to year at an annual rental of 105 granted. Hugh Hagan applied for a row grazing licenso over the area of two acres out of section 7, block 11, Tiger Hill district, on Black's commonage, that had been held by him under a five years' license.—License from year to year granted, as from January 15, at 5s per annum.

Purchase of section 51, block XIV, Lower Wanaka (cash), Arthur Robt. Bond.—'Approved. Purchase of section 2, block X, Glenfcenich (cash), Donald M'Beath.—Approved. Tho board considered the completion of survey of land in block XIII, Greenvale district, provisionally granted for cash to . William Wright Thomson and Robert Hyde, j trustees in the estate of the late Alexander Thomson.—Land finally ■ granted at a capital value of £4 per acre. In regard to tho completion of survey of land in block XIII, Greenvale district, provisionally granted on the renewable lease system to John Gordon, it was resolved that the application be granted at a capital value of £4 per acre, i For section 99, block VIII, Glenomaxu, Robt. Henry W. Ashmore made application.—Application approved; term of payment to be 20 years. George Ambrose Ridd applied for an occupation lease over an estimated area of 40 acres of unsurveyed land on the mining reserve in block XII, Benger district, between section 10 and the Clutha River.— Application granted provisionally, and subject to survey, j H. J. Latta applied for a right to lay a tramway line through the south-west corner I of section 27, block VI, Woodland district, j Ho also applied for tho right to cut ! milling timber from six or seven acres in ! the south-wesb corner of the samo section, j between the creek and the road—Tramway site license for seven years granted at an i annual rental of £1; sawmilling timber on i area sold to applicant for £9.

John Mills applied for an occupation lease over 50 acres of land m block VIII, Tan-as district, on Mount Pisa Run.—Application refused, as board would not entertain any applications for land on Mount Pisa Run at present. Mrs Amy Jano Chalmers applied lor a strip of unsurveyed land between section 5, block VI, Catlins district, and Mrs Bcgg's pastoral run.—Declined. The Commissioner reported- that John Dennison had made the required payments for the grazing license over section 34, block 11, Wakefield district, granted on 13th June, and cancelled on Bth August.— Former resolution of June 13 to stand good Georgo Asquith applied for an area of about 5 acres of land to the north-west of and adjoining section 6, block VII, liger Hill district, the- area being fenced in with section 6.—Held over. , iS. Lewis applied for a grazing license over section 64, block IX, Leaning RockGrazing right granted from year to year at 10s per annum. . John Glem applied for a grazing license over camping reserve, block VI, JNaseby. Grazing license granted from year to year at Is per acre per annum. t Tho board considered the extension of term of permission granted to M. Clifton Settlement.— Grazing right extended for three months at a rental of £3O. Proposals for dealing with unoccupied Crown land, section 41, block VI, Benger district, containing 35 acres 2 roods 10 poles, wore held over. A report on an area of 1200 acres of unsold land in Block 11, Woodland, was adopted.

The Maniototo County Council submitted proposals for expenditure of thirds and fourths, £476 3s lid.—Approved. _ The rent for renewed term, of pastoral license over Run 206 d, Catherine Crutchlcy, licensee, was fixed at £2O per annum. The rent for renewed term of pastoral license over Run 261 k, Mrs Rose S?'Erlcane, licensee, was fixed at £l6 per annum. It was decided that the rent for renewed term of pastoral license over Runs 479 and 480, John Donaldson, licensee, bo fixed at £SO per annum

R. L. M'Bean applied to surrender section 34, Maerewhenua Settlement. —Minister to bo recommended to consent to surrender.

In* regard to Lot 14a, Kurow, sheep dip, area 2£ acres, held by committee (T. A. Munro, W. E. Stevens, W. Simpson, G. Warwick, and W. Warwick), it was decided that the name of W. F. Condon be substituted for that of W. EL Stevens, who has left the district.

In re the application by Begg and Co. for an extension of time to cut flax on reserve, Tuapeka River, rights for which arc held by R. Brown. —License extended until February 13, 1919, at a royalty of 3a per ton. In ro application by John Brooks for an bxtensicn of time to out flax on Tuapeka Commonage.—Period extended until- March 10, 1919. A report was received on' section 11, block XII, Benger, held by Robert Ridd.— Rental to bo increased to £3 per annum as from 18th inst.

The board considered the fixing of value of improvements required on section 92 and 101, block VIII, Leaning Rock, held by J. H. Timmings.—lmprovements required to bo the samo as those necessary under renewable lease land for settlement.
