HARBOUR BOARD RETURNS.
A copy of the trad© and shipping statist tics of the Oiago Harbour Board for 1917 ha* been forwarded to us by Mr W. J, Bardsley (secretary). For some time the Defence Department prohibited the pub> lication of the yearly statistics, but the embargo has now been lifted. The return shows that last year 446 Vessels (inoludina troopships) entered the port, with a total of 596,979 tons. In 1916 the number was 616 and in 1916 it was 617. The import* and exports, as might be expected, show a falling off, as evidenced.in the following figures: liironTS (Tons). 1012-18 1917. (average). Oversea 95,553 67,039 Intercolonial and coastal 191,812 190,038 Exports (Tons). ■» Overspa 33,630 16,148 Intercolonial and coastal 122,413 111,027
