CHRISTIAN CONFERENCE.
A two clays' conference was begun in the Gospel Hall on the Ist, when between 500 and 600 Christians, from all parts of the dominion, gathered for prayer, prp.ise, and ministry of the Word. For over a quarter of a century these meetings have gone on uninterruptedly without committee of management or chairman, and without collections for expenses for provisions, etc.
About eight or nine present were men who give their whole time to preaching the Gospel, among whom Mr Ebenezer Lynn, lately from India, told to an interested audience something of the work, needs, and triumphs of the Gospel in that dark and populous land. Others exhorted those present to the study of the Bible and to be faithful to a faithful God in these difficult and perplexing times. Prayer was offered oii behalf of kings and those i:i authority, and for the sufferers invalided in the war, and that soon God might 6ee fit to bring the war to a close.
