MOTOR CAR ACCIDENT.

WELL KNO'WN FARMER KILLED

Superintendent Wright on Monday received word that Alexander M'Lennan, 65 years of age, a well-known farmer at Dunback. was motoring on Sunday'with his wife ondf three boys, when the oar ran over a bank, and Mr M'Lennan was killed. Mrs M'Lennan is suffering from concussion and shook, but tho children escaped without/injury. Mr M'Lennan was a typical pioneer. He arrived in New Zealand from Scotland many years ago, and took up a position aa a shepherd on the Deep Dell Station. Later on he acquired' a place of his own at Horso Flat (near Macraes). Having" done well at Horso Plat, he sold out, but finding timo hanging on his hands ho entered the pastoral industry again, taking up the Dunrobin Station in Shag Valley. There ho worked successfully until his untimely fatal accident. The late Mr M'Lennan was a very popular man in his district. He showed a keen interest in polities, and was a firm supporter and friend of the late Sir John M'Keznie. He represented his riding- for many yeaxa in tho Waihcmo County Council, and was chairman of the School Committee ai Dunback. His loss will be keenly felt by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. He leaves a widow, five sons, and four daughters to mourn their loss. Ihe deceased farmer was in Dunedin on Saturday arranging for tho sale of his wool clip.
