GOLDEN WEDDING.
There was a large and representative gathering of relatives and friends at the residence' of Mr and Mrs W. C. Turnbull, lately of Mount Wendon and Waikaia, on the 27th ulfc., on the occasion of the fiftieth aruiiversavy of their wedding day. 'Among those present were Mr and Mrs Charles Turnbull, Lumsden; Mr and Mrs Roger Turnbull, Mount Wendon; Mr J. Turnbull, Mossburn; Mr and Mrs Jas. A. M'Lean, late of Bunvood Station; Mr and Mrs John Turnbull, Waikaka; Mr and Mrs Arthur Turnbull; Miss M'Donald, Duncdin; Rev. J. M. and Mrs Simpson, Mr and Mrs D. M. Cameron, Mr and Mrs P. C. Qray, Mr and Mrs Thos. Taylor, Mr and Mrs Alex. Cruickshank, Mrs and Miss Hood, Mrs and Miss M'Kenzie, Mrs M'Corkindale, and Mr and Mrs A. H. Aitken, all of Gore; and Mr and Mrs Wm. Barron and Mrs P. Maher, of Wendonside. Telegraphic apologies for absence were received from many other weli-v*ishers. To the strains of "The Wedding March" the worthy couple took their places at the beautifully-decorated tables, on which a bounteous repast was laid. Breakfast disposed of, the usual loyal and patriotic toasts were duly honoured. Rev. J. M. Simpson, who was in the chair, in a happy speech proposed the toast of "The Bride and Bridegroom," which was received with groat enthusiasm. Messrs Thos. Taylor and A. H. Aitken spoke reminisoently. and Messrs John Turnbull, P. C Gray and D. M. Cameron also added tributes of praise to the sterling qualities and hospitality of the happy couple. Mr Ohas. Turnbull. Lumsden. made suitable and humorous response for his father. The toast of "The Chairman" having been ho'noured. the singing of "Auld lang syne" brought an enjoyable afternoon's fiinotionto a close. Numerous and costly presents were received from relatives and friends. Towards evening the visitors took their departure after "an exchange of cordial Christmas greetings.
