The Stratford correspondent of the Taranaki Herald writes: "Owing to the alarming frequency of fires of late there has been some talk of employing nightwatchmen at the dairy factories. The A. and P. Association had an unfortunate experience. In spite of the vigilance (?) of their nightwatehman _ thieves lified the ■whole of the home industries exhibits ir« the night after the show." The planet Pelltis is a conspicuous feature in the western sky each evening, being above the horizon for three hours after sunset. Its brilliance and size will increase until January 5 as it approaches the earth. It is at present 60.000.0C0 miles away.
