WAIHEMO COUNTY COUNCIL
The monthly .meeting of the Waihemo County Council was held on Saturday; present—Crs M'Lav (in the chair), O'Neil, Pilbrow, .Miller, ~ Clark, O'Connell, and Aitchison.
Mr Thomas Stanley (Macraes) wrote agreeing to allow the council access to the Mount Helleul quarry under certain conditions, and a htated royalty.- Conditions approved. The District Engineer of the Public Works Department (Mr C J- MTCcnzie) advised that when the council was preparing specifications for truss bridges certain provisions relative to tensions were to be complied with.—Noted. The Inspector reported as follows: — Bushey Riding—A good supply of maintenance gravel is located on the BusheyDalminston road, while a number of roads have been surfaced and graded. Certain repairs are necessary to put Gilmour's road in a good condition. Goodwood RidingExtensive surface work and grading have been executed on various roads, while it is recommended that the balance of the Government grant on the Goodwood Settlement road be expended on necessary work. Rlue Mountain Riding —General surface work and repairs have been effected at different places. Riding—Arrangements have been made to commence the work decided upon on the Clifton road. Dunback Riding—Gravelling on the Dunback road, near the Waihemo Station, is completed, together with other minor improvements. Green Valley—General surface work has been executed. Macraes Riding —General surface work has been done, whilo the Macraes road has been graded
and arrangements have bcon made with Mr Stanley for the supply of metal. Accounts amounting to £224 16s 8d were passed for payment. The tender of Mr J. Moir, Dunedin, for the supply of dog collars, was'accepted, and also that of Mr A. Kinneard for cocksfoot. The dog tax for the year was fixed at 2s 6d for sheep dogs and 7s 6d for other than workers. - The inspector (Mr A AT'William) was appointed the council's mining valuer.
