A man named W. 11. Thompson, a surveyor, was found dead in his bedroom at a boarding house at • Matiere, N. 1., on the 10th. 'lhe deceased, who was 60 years old, had no relatives. At the inquest a verdict of death from heart failure was returned.

A sad accident happened at Moturoa on Saturday, Ist inst., resulting in the death of Mr Ralph Cra.wsb.aw, a well-known and highly respected resident of New Plymouth. It appears that deceased, together with W. B. Kivell, O. V. Russell, and Richard Williams, had arranged to go out tp the latter's launch, spend the night on the craft, and leave early on Sunday morning to go fishing. . He waa a married man, and leaves a widow and four children. He was on the staff of the New Plymouth Post and Telegraph Office, where ho held a responsible position. A three-year-old boy named Hancock wag killed by a motor car on tho junction road near Mangorei on 'the 12th. The boy ran across tho road in front of the car, the radiator of which struck his head.
