CLUTHA PRESBYTER

The Presbytery of Clutha met at Balclutha on Friday, the Rev. Mi Loan (moderator). Mr Mason reported for the Commission of Presbytery appointed to visit Clydevale that Mr Coates had' been ordained as a home missionary, and that it was considered inadvisable to alter the boundaries between Clydevale and Tuancka Mouth. Mr Morton reported for a similar Commission of Presbytery appointed to visit Papatowai that Mr Heard had been ordained as a home missionary. Mr Morton resigned his position of moderator of Papatowai. when it was agreed to thank him for his valuable services, and to appoint Mr Loan, of Owaka, in his stead. Mr Loan reported on Ratanui that Mr Jackson was"likely to be transferred to another district, and that, on account of the great scarcity of men, it would bo very difficult to find a successor. It was agreed to leave y the matter in Mr Loan's hands. Mr Loan reported that the drainage nuisance from the ditch in front of the Ratanui manse was as great as ever, and it was agreed on the motion of Mr M Dowall, seconded by Mr Durward, that the Presbytery, having failed to secure any abatement of 'the nuisance from the local authorities, brim? the matter before the Minister for Public Health. _ The Presbvterv agreed to extend its sympathy to the" relatives of Mr Francis Milne, for some years home missionary at Ratanui. and of Rev. E. W. Halford. a the Presbytery, both of whom had lately been reported "killed in action,"; also to Mr W. Fleming, home nrssionary at Romahapa, in his present illness.
