COMPENSATION CASE. HAMILTON. December 15. In the Supreme Court, Sarah Moles sued the Crown for £2COO damages for the death of her son, James Casey, an electric- linesman at Rotorna. Mr Mays, for the Crown, admitted liability. The jury awarded the mother £SO; the wife, who was living separately from her husband, £425; and the illegitimate child of another woman, £SOO.
On December 3 there were 71.0 soldiers and discharged soldiers in hospitals in New Zealand, 287 being soldiers and 423 discharged men. At the same date there were 188 out-patients being treated at institutions, 269 of them soldiers and 21fi discharged soldiers.
