NEW ZEALAND TROTTING ASSOCIATION.
The New Zealand Trotting Association met on Thursday, evening; present—Messrs P. Selig (president), J. H. Williams, H. W. Kitchingham, ~R. W. Short, W. H. Denton, and H. F. Nicoll. A letter was received from J. M'Lennan protesting against the action of the New Zealand Metropolitan Club in imposing a fine of £5 on him at -the recent meeting.—lt was decided to send a copy of the letter to the club.
The Winton Jockey Club reported that it had fined' G. Reed £3 at its recent meeting; also that G. Bxomby had been suspended for the remainder of the meeting for a breach of rule 107 —i.e., driving a horse other thau that trained by him. The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club reported that A. Fleming had been called to answer a charge of crossing at its recent meeting. The stewards decided to severely censure Fleming. The explanation of J. Messervey had been accepted. J. Bryce, rider of Zara, was called before the stewards for not weighing-in, and the hp-rse was disqualified and third place awarded to Rorke's Drift. J. M'Lennan had been fined £lO and R. Franks £2 The action of the club in each case was endorsed. It was recommended that £lO on account be voted to E. M'Cann and £ll 12s on account to J. Brankin from the accident fund. It was recommended that Ivan Tilson be granted a rider's license only.
