WELLINGTON NOTES.
(Fbom Oub Own Correspondent.) December 12. H. Gray will be riding at Waipa on Saturday, and South Canterbury on Monday. This must be nearly a record in long-distance travelling and riding in the Dominon. J. W. Lowe-left for Auckland yesterday with Menelaus, Seadown, Johnny Walker, and Ayah. Some of the team will be_ running at Wairarapa this week, and others will run at Manawatu. The Martian mare is on a good mark, and has only to strike form to- win races. As a three-year-old there was not much between her and Devotion, who recently struck form. The Welcome Stakes winner, 80-Peep, will make the "trip to Auckland, and will be accompanied by Philomena. The hurdle horse Sir Solo ran a-couple of good races at Woodville, and is to accompany Red Ribbon to Auckland. If Johnny Walker is the only member of Lowe's team to start in the Auckland Cup, A. Reed will ride him. If Seadown does not start B. Deeley will probably be on Paraoa. Mr H. Whitney is sending a team to the West Coast meetings, including Rose Pink, Pall Mall, and Arihia. A. Reed, who heads the list of winning horsemen on the flat for the present season, recently purchased a property at Trentham, and is to be married on Saturday.
