MOMONA.

September 15.—During the week just ending we have experienced beautifully fine weather. Light rain fell at intervals during to-day, but there was not sufficient to retard farm operations. The teams have been at work during the week, and a good deal of work has been got through. If the weather remains fine until the end of this month wheat-sowing will be almost completed and the work of potato-planting will be engaging our attention. One day this week I saw the potato-planter at work on Mr Dan Brace's farm, but this work will not be general for some time yet. As far as I can ascertain, the area to be- planted hi potatoes this year will not be so larger as that of last year. Feed.—There has been a pronounced growth in pasturage during the past few days, and in paddocks from which the stook have been excluded the grass is coming on rapidly. In most cases sufficient winter feed is available to last until the grass gets a good start.

Personal. —Mr Joseph Crane, the lease of whose farm here has expired, is holding at clearing sale on the 25th of this month. I understand that Mr Archibald Douglas is the new lessee. Mr W. Bryant has leased the farms recently vacated by Messrs Cross and Taylor at Otokia. The latter have removed to the farm recently occupied by Mr James Gibson. Accident'.—One of Mr and Mrs Cross's little boys had a narrow escape from a serious injury at the Otokia traffic bridge last Wednesday morning. He was driving a horse and cart, when the animal became excited and the boy got out of the cart to lead it. The horse plunged forward, and the boy was knocked down, the wheel of the cart passing over one of his aims. The actual injuries sustained were slight, but the little fellow had a narrow escape.
