The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew the third race of the season from Ashburton —an air-line distance of 150 miles —on Saturday last, in very unfavourable weather. Mr Greer liberated the birds at an interval of five minutes. Results: —A. Goodman's Convoy (4hr 50-min) lj T. Jones's Inverness v4hr 55Amin), 2; Stevenson Philips's Knoeinam (snr 3mhi), 3; J. Goodman's Black All (shr Bin), 4. T Mac Lean's Glencaim (shr 15imiu), 5. Birds entered by Messrs Hutchison, Botting. Smith, M'Dougal, Esquilant, Veltch, Conloy, Fitzgerald, Ramsay, Barden, Still, and Moir also flew. Only ton pens homed in the day. An enterprising country woman in New South Wales, Miss Mary White, daughter of Mr F. J. White, of Arruidale, has ooine, forward and Bet a fine example to other women with private means. Misa White has offered to insure for £SOO either a married or a single man with dependents who enlists.
