THE LIBERTY LOAN
SUBSCRIPTIONS STILL BEING ACCEPTED. WELLINGTON, September 10. The Minister of Finance- stated to-day that subscriptions for the war loan were still reaching him. A Dunedin firm telegraphed asking if he would accept a subscription of £20,000, and many smaller amounts were being offered and accepted. The loan has not yet been finally closed, and it would bo kept open until the Finance Bill, giving authority to companies, societies, .trustees, and others to contribute, had been made law.
The Indemnity Mutual Marine Assurance Company, of London, has applied through the New Zealand attorneys (Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co.) to, subscribe £20,000 to the liberty war loan. Although this offer was applied for after the dosing date, the Minister, of Finance has agreed to acoept the sum.
