DUNEDIN ORPHANS' CLUB.
VISIT BY TIMAEU SAVAGE CLUB.
Tho members of the Tknaru Savage Club paid a visit to the Dunedin Orphans' Club on the 7th. There was a large attendance of members of the local club, and they pave the visitors a right royal welcome. Bro. G. W. M'lntosh (president of the Orphans' Club) oxpressed pleasure in welcoming the Savage braves from Ttmaru.—(Applause.) The Orphans' Club had been looking forward to this visit with the greatest interest. They all appreciated tho difficulties in the way of 14 or 15 business men getting away to Dunedin, and while they were hero he hoped they would enjoy themselves. He then vacated tho chair and handed the control of the proceedings over to Chief Savage O. F. Collins. In doing so ho gave the visitors a haka, which he said tho Orphans learnt, from the savage. —(Applause.) Chief Savage Collins, in. replying, said if tho -sentiments expressed in the haka were in keeping with the actions of the haka then the welcome was indeed a very warm one. —(Applause.) The visitors provided tho entertainment for the evening, commencing with their opening chorus, " Haere Tonu Ra" in true Native stylo, which was greeted with tumultuous applause. The programme was of a varied character, each contributor to it being encored time and again. Those who contributed items were Savages Budd. Naylor, Crear, Pedder, O'Donoghue, A. Moore (songs). E. Crawford (instrumental selection'). Chapman (cornet «o!o). and Savage O'Donoghue gave an exhibition of club swinging. Tho visitors are to be motored to Wairongoa to-day, and to-night they are to be the guests of the Dunedin Commercial Travellers Club.
