JUVENILE OFFENDERS.
INFLUENCE OF MOVING PICTURES AUCKLAND, September 8.
At the Juvenile Court at Auckland today three lads were charged with entering a house and wilfully damaging the furniture and stealing. It was stated that the lads deliberately smashed the furniture with an axe.
The probation officer stated that the boys had confessed that they had been influenced by several pictures depicting incidents in the career of a criminal known as "Stingaree." Five groups, involving 20 boys in various suburbs, had appeared at the courts during the last three weeks since this picture had been shown in Auckland, charged with committing crimes in imitation of the principal character in the picture. Mr " Frazor, S.M.. telegraphed to the Undcr-secretary of Justice suggesting that the picture be banned.
