ARREST OF RESERVISTS.
MISTAKE BY DEFENCE DEPARTMENT. WELLINGTON, August 23. The case of Patrick William O'Sullivan, a reservist who was arrested near Gore on a charge of failing to report himself for medical examination at Gisborne, was mentioned to-day by Mr Anderson, M.P., who said that the man had suffered serious injustice, Wliile ploughing he had been arrested on a charge of having failed to attend for examination after being drawn in the ballot, whereas he had been discharged from camp na medically unfit. Sir James Allen said a mistake had been made by the Defence Department. It waa one of the regrettable mistakes that could not be avoided, when many thousands of names were being dealt with, and the department must take all the blame. Tha man had been arrested owing to the rmatake of an officer, who had attached a notice to the wrong file. He was informed that the officer responsible for the mistake was no longer employed in the same branch, of the Defence Department.
