INTENT TO DEFRAUD.
ALLEGED VIOLATION OF A TRUST. CHRISTCHUROH, September 10. At the Magistrate's Court, late this afternoon, Alfred Ernest Craddock, of Christchurch, a well-known land and commission agent, and now a bankrupt, was charged that, on May 1, 1915, he, being the trustee of the will of Dennis Booker, formerly of Christohurch, farmer, who died in January, 1912, with intent to defraud, and in violation of his trust, converted £350, of which he was a trustee, to his own use. this being not authorised by the said trust. Mr Gresson appeared for the accused, who pleaded not guilty. Mr Raymond, K.C., said that Craddock had just been arrested, and he asked for a remand while further investigations Were being conducted. There were likely to be other charges. Mr Gresson applied for bail, and Mr Raymond, while not opposing the application, asked that the amount be fairly substantial. Ijhe Magistrate remanded accused till Monday next, and fixed bail at accused in £SOO and two sureties of £SOO each.
