DEATH IN CHURCH.
PALMERBTON N., September 3. A painfully sudden death occurred at St. Paul's Methodist Church last night. Mr John Barnctt, aged 73, a well-known farmer, belonging to Lees ton, Canterbury, had walked to tho service. Soon after he took his seat he suddenly expired. He had suffered from heart trouble, but recently had been in good health. He was visiting the district with his wife. His son—Dr Burnett, of Palmerston North—is on active service. Mr Barnett was chairman of the Central Dairy Company, Audington, and one of the founders of the South Island Dairy Association. of which ho was a member of the executive.
