IN PALESTINE.
Egypt official: We advanced our line on a front of 800 yards south-westward of Gaza. Our losses were insignificant. Our aeroplanes made eight direct hits on engine sheds at Maan, and caused damage to a field battery and enemy troops. All our planes returned. Since the operations of last April there have, been no important actions on tho Palestine front. The conditions on both sides are_ more or less trench warfare. Tho opEosing lines are close together near Gaza, ut gradually grow further apart as they enter the barren, inhospitable region further south, until they finally tail off altogether in the desert, where the Anzac and Imperial Mounted Divisions keep watch on the right flank.
