NORTHERN CONCERN'S. (Feou Our North Island Correspondent) The animal report of the Cardiff Cooperative Dairy Company shows that, notwithstanding the effects of the war, the output was over 347 tons of cheese, while 182-tcwt of whey butter was also manufactured. The payments for butter-tat will give another 34 per lb—a total of Is 10£d per lb- for the past season. LEPPERTON. The twenty-fifth annual report of the Lepperton Co-operative Factory Company indicates that out of the surplus oi: x. 5010 2s Id the directors have already paid 4d on butter-fat (September to May inclusive)— £2797 Os lOd; making advances for season up to 16d per lb. They propose to pay interest 5 per cent, on share capital subscribed to June 30, 1916, £74 Is 9d; to make a payment to suppliers of 2gd per lb of butter-fat for the season, £1922 17» 7d. The Kaitaia Dairy Company (North held its annual meeting during the week, Mr W. R, Grigg, chairman of directors, presiding. The report presented showed that the butter made totalled 220 tons The gross price received for butter sold was £32,025 0s 6d, which with the butter at the freezer, valued at £79i9 9s, makes a total of £39,944 9s 6d. The amount paid for butter-fat, £22,463 Us 10d, with a further payment of £BlOl 13s 9d, makes a total of £30,565 5s 7d, showing an average payment of 17.44 d per lb—a record for the company. TIKORANGI. Mr C foreman, chairman of directors, presided over the Tikorangi Company Taranaki). A credit balance of £7522 7s Id was shown in the working account, which, when distributed among members, brought the oayment for butter-fat to over Is 7d per "lb The milk received during the past season was 5,084,4231 b, cream received 238 7171 b butter made 346,8681 b, butter-fat from milk 200.4471 b, butter-fat from cream 83,3661 b, and the average milk test 3.94 The working account showed the value of the butter made to hayc been £25,992 8s 2d and advances to suppliers ±-15,046 9s 2d ; surplus £7522 7s Id. The Reverdale Company; in Taranaki, had a decreased output owing to the dry season, but good prices were obtained, and £BSBB 2s 5d was brought forward for distribution. From this it wa3 decided that a dividend of 6 per cent, be paid on paid-up capital, also a further payment to suppliers of 3d per lb for the whole season, making the payments 21d from July to March and 15d for April, May, arid June, when butter was manufactured. The -eneral store showed that, after payinsr cost of removal, the net profit was £689 10s whioh, with £llß 12s 9d brought forward, allows for a bonus of 8 per cent, on store purchases. The profit and loss account, showed that £48,758 was paid for milk purchased. Other expenditure, including cost of management, freights, supplies, and taxation, totalled £12,360. The Jfevenue from sales of cheese was £53,165; that from butter sales £6635. MELROSE.

The fifth annual report of the Melrose fTaranaki) Co-operative Company provides the following statistics for the season:— Lb of milk, 2,672,399; !b of butter-fat, 97,794; quantitv of cheese made (110 tons Jlcwt 3qr 151 b), 247,7311 b; lb of milk to lib cheese, 10.78; lb of cheese from lib butter-fat, 2.53; average test, 3.65; cost per lb f.o.b. (including depreciation), .997 d. Payments for butter-fat worked out at Is 10 per lb.
