HARRIERS.

The Pacific Harriers ran their Five-ruile Senior and 2f,-mil© Junior Championships at Wingatui. Good fields faced the starter in both, events, and eomo interesting racing was witnessed, both races ending in close finishes. Sealed handicaps were run in connection with the ©vents. Results aro as follow:—Senior: W. Gray 1, G. Ferguscn 2, W. Stark 3. Time, Slinin Ssec. Scaled Handicap: W. Stark. Junior: D. Lister 1, W. Russell % M'lndoe 8. Time, 14mm 39sec. Sealed Handicap: M'lnThe Anglican Harriers ran from the residence of Mr A. O. Smith, Roslyn. Th© hares laid a good long trail through Roslyn, skirting the Golf Links, up the slopes of Flagstaff. thence> in th© direction of the trough overlooking th© Taieri Plain. Prom here th~ trail led down the track behind th© asylum to Halfway Bush, then via Fraser's Gully to Roslyn. The club was afterwards v©ry hospitably entertained by th© host and hostess, and an enjoyable evening was spent, a progressive five hundred tournament being held, intermixed with musical items. Th© Otago Centre of th© New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association is arranging to hold a sports meeting for members of th© harrier clubs under 21 years o«f age later on in. the season.

The Civil Service and Ca.versha.rn Harrier Clubs walked to Waitati from Normanby. A brisk pace was set from the start, and maintained. The members partook of afternoon tea en route, and completed the remainder of the journey in the ram. The members returned to town by train. FOOTBALL. B entered competition June 30. *Ravensbourn© team withdrawn June 9. Pirates v. "University.—A great deal of interest was shown in the meeting of the Pirates and University A at Oaxisbrook. There was a. good ati-sndane© of th& public, University won by 24 points to nil. In order that the players might witness the match at Cansbrook, the Alhambra v. University B and Kaikorai v. Union matches were not played. B Grade. The match Southern v. Zingari-Richmond provided a surprise. Southern, the lowest team on the list,- drawing with Zingari-Richmond, the leading team. Southern have not won a match this season. There was no score. Harriers' Match. The St. Kilda Harriers met the St. Joseph Harriers at Bathgate Park, and tried conclusions in a game of football. After a closelycontested game, St. Kilda won by 13 points to 3.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS' TOURNAMENT. CHRISTCHUROH, August 28. In the secondary schools' football tournament Cbristchurch High School defeated Southland High School by 23 points to 7. OTAGO v. TIMARU. In the final match of the _tournament Timaru High School beat Otago Boys' High School by 18 points to 9. Shackleton (2), King, and Stewart scored tries for Timaru. For Otago Troahy kicked a penalty goal and also kicked a goal from a mark, while 0. Smith scored a try. FINAL. CHRISTCHURCH; August 29. The final match in tho mter-collcgiate football tournament resulted in a drawn game (three points each) between Christ's ollege and Wanganui Collegiate School. Kennedy scored a try for Wanganui, and Hargreaves kicked a penalty goal for Christ's College. The Christ's College forwards dominated the play for fully three parts of the game, and gave their backs plenty of chances, but tho passing was very feeble indeed. Tho Wanganui back played a fax more heady game, and supported then: forwards much bettor than Christ's College backs did their pack. The points scored in the tournament were : Christ's Collego 1£ points, Wanganui 1 point, Wellington £ point. ASSOCIATION. To conclude the Association football season, "knock-ont" competitions for each grade were commenced on Saturday, the conditions being that the beaten teams at the close of each Saturday retire, the winning teams playing off until finality is reached.
