LAND AND WATER.
A special meeting of tho Council of the Otago Acclimatisation Society was held on the 29th. In accordance with notice, Mr G. P. M. Butterworth moved that tho following resolution passed at the council meeting on July 2 be rescinded: "That the recommendation of the Canterbury Society made with reference to quinnat salmon be supported in toio," and that in place thereof the resolution below bo substituted: "That the salmon season open on January 1 and continue till Easter Tuesday (inclusive), and that the holder of a troui license pay a fee of 10s for a quinnat salmon license, while non-license holders pay £l." Mr S. Cousins seconded the resolution, which was carried unanimously. Several members who spoke all expressed their approval of the prinoiple of the motion. The
meeting decided to forward a copy of the resolution to the Canterbury Society.
