LOCAL BODIES' ELECTION.
St. Kilda.—James . William Dove . and Charles Nunn >Scurr were nominated for the mayoralty. Port Chalmers.—James Powell, Thomas Scollay, and Jolm Tait were nominated for the mayoralty. Milton.—Mr Charles. King was re-elected Mayor. As councillors, Messrs T. G. Henderson, W. H. Hitchon, B>. Hollick, W. Kirby, John Moroney, H. J. Riddell, W. A. Wilson (retiring councillors), and M. W. Fleming and John R. Wilson were elected; Lawrence. —Mr W. B. Winn was elected Mayor unopposed, and Mr J. B. M'Kinlay (retiring Mayor) takes Mr Winn's place on tho council. . Cromwell.—Arthur M. Brodrick was elected Mayor unopposed. Only the required number of councillors were nominated. Alexandra.—William Black was elected Mayor without opposition. As councillors, Messrs A. Ashworth, W. Bringans, G. Campbell, C. E. Mxwphy, J. J. O'Kane, W. Duncan, W. Noble, and C. Weaver were elected. Waikouaiti. —G. J. L. Kerr was elected Mayor. The following were nominated for tho Borough Council: —T. Alcook, H. Carson, E. Davis, G. Maxwell, S. R. Smith, and Alex. Williamson. This is _threo short of the number required. , Mosgiel.—A. F. Quelch was returned unopposed as Mayor. He 'has occupied tho chair since April, 1913. Previous to that date he sat at tho council table. There' were only nine nominations for the nine vacancies for councillors; consequently tho returning officer declared the following elected: Thomas Aitkcn, A. F. Ch.eync, A. Davidson, John Hendry, G. A. Keys, Wm. M'Loan, George M'Leod, F. Seaton, and Thomas Williams. Mr Aitkcn has sat continuously since 1884, and during that period has missed only one meet : ng. He has served both as Mayor and councilor. West Const.—Hokitika. George Perry; Kumara. James Murdoch; Ross, Joseph Grimmond; Greymouth, J. D. Lynch.
