EARLY SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION.
Tho monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago Early Settlers’ Association was held on the 17th inst., the president (Mr D. Reid) in the chair. A vote of sympathy was passed, to Mr W. H. Ferens on the death of his brother, Mr Thomas, Jackson Westland Ferens, of Reefton. Fifteen now members were enrolled. The following deaths were recorded since tho previous meeting;—Mr G, Blackwood MTvonzie (75), Resolute, 1854-; Mrs Elizabeth Wright (89), Robert Henderson, 1861; Miss Letitia Gibbson Wallace (80), Philip I.aing, 1848: Mr William Orifilths, of Clutha (85), from Melbourne, 1861; Mrs Mary Flint, of Dunedin (85), Silistria, 1860; Mr Charles Clarke, of Taieri (74), from Melbourne, 1862: Mrs Isabella Campbell, of Green Island (83), Rajah. 1853; Mrs Elizabeth Louisa Harlow, of Dunedin (83). Lightning, 1862; Mr Joseph Braithwaice (68), from Melbourne, i 860; Mrs Atalanta Murray, of George street, Dunedin (83), Robert Henderson, 1858; Mrs James Michio (75). Clutha, 1854; Mr J. C. Anderson (73), Silistria, 1562; Mr Anthony Bott (79), Dora Arita, 1862. It was repprted that the following gifts had been received far the Museum, for which a vote of thanks was passed:—From Mr K. Melville, George street, ton frained photographs, cyclist groups, two old-time velocipedes (one made by S. Thomson, of Port Chalmers), and one model steam engine, made bv George Davidson, Maori HiH ; from Mr'W. T. Bunting, framed programme of concert hold at Halfway Bush in 1858; from Mr Fountain, assessment notice for school fees, Halfway Bush, 1865; from Mr J. F. Arson, framed photographs of Mr and Mrs Robert Robson, Col embus, 1351; from Mr D. M. M'Goun, Roslyn, photograph of his late mother, Mrs D. M. M'Goiin, sen., and of himself; from J. Pemberton, poem composed on Larnaeh’s Castle by Thomas Shepherd, Geelong. Victoria. 1875. also card of photographs in connection with the exploring steamer Jeannette; from T. Wilson, 2 Indian coins and one Scandinavian coin.
