FAILING TO REGISTER.
OFFENDER CONVICTED AND DISCHARGED. WELLINGTON, April 13. John Wm. Rogers was charged in the Magistrate's Court to-day with failing to make application to be enrolled in the Reserve. . When asked to plead Rogers flourished a p ßible, saying: "My religious convictions forbid me having anything to do with matters in connection with the war." Tho Magistrate (Mr L. J. Reid): We cannot go into your conscientious objections here. Inspector Marsack remarked that the accused claimed the ordinary protection ot a citizen of tho dominion. Tho Accused : I do not claim any citizenship on earth. My citizenship is in heaven. I have that faith in God that nothing can come to mo than what God permits. Finally the magistrate said ho would give tho accused a chance to obey the law. He would bo convicted and ordered to appear for sentence when called on.
