OAMAIU STOCK MARKET. (Fbom Otjb Owv Cohsbsponden?.) OAMABtJ, April 14. A little life has been infused into tho stock market by a nico rain in the early part of the week, which has brightened feed prospects. The influence of this was seen at a clearing sale at Tapui on Thursday, when >sheep were well competed for. Prices realised were 32s 2d for two-tooth ewes, up to 34s 3d for mixed four and six-tooth ewes, and up to 28s 7d for eight-tooth. Other sheep sold equally well. Sales by private parties have also been made more readily, but with the exception of a line of 1200 tussook twq-tooth wethers, which changed hands at 13s, transactions have been confined to lines, of hundreds. The following were the prices:—Two-topth ewes, 35s 6d; two-tooth half bred ewes, 30s; mixed four, six, and eight-iooih ewes, 32s 6d; sound-mouthed ewes, 28s 6d to 30s: fullmouthed ewes, 21s §d tp 255; full-mouthed halfbred ewes, 24s 6d j faillng-mputhed ewes, 20s and 21s; forward wethers, 30s; ewe lambs, 245; fat and forward lambs, 225; rape lambs, 19s 6d. SOUTHLAND STOCK MARKET. (Fbom Oub Own CoebespOndent.) INVEROARGILL, April 14. In all classes of stock business continues highly satisfactory, the demand being very good indeed. Prices are every bit as firm as the good values ruling of late, with the exception of lambs. In fact, values for ewes and forward wethers are, if arrything, firmer than of late, and, with the abundance of feed in view, it looks as if the market is going to hold all right. A number of graziers are afraid of the works dosing down, but it seems, at anyrate for the present, and for some considerable time to come, there is plenty of available space, and farmers should have no immediate concern over any shortage. A few days ago it looked as if the dry weather prevailing north would necessitate the sending down of large consignments of sjiocfc, but the last few days' weloome rain which have occurred will relieve the pressure to a certain extent. Fat sheep operators are still buying keenly, and prepared to buy as much as it is possible l to get hold of.
