PALMERSTON NOTES.
PALMERSTON, April 16. _ Mr S. Beck lxas consented to be nominated for the mayoralty for the ensuingyear. The Dunback dog trials attracted a large number of entries, but the work done by the doge was not quite so satisfactory as last year. This was specially noticeable in the imntaway class. The art union in aid of patriotic funds, the prizes for which wero two large oil paintings, realised £ll 12s. Half has been allotted to the Belgian relief and the other half to the Red Cross.
