EXPLOSIONS IN UNITED STATES
REMARKABLE LIST DURING WAR, , A largo number of explosions and a still greater number of fires have occurred sincethe war began in the United States. Tho majority of them are believed' to have been the work of German, agents. Following is a list of the chief explosions: 1915.—January 28: Five sheda and 180,0001 b of rifle powder, Wilmington, Delaware. . .-nil. . 1 works at Trenton, New Jersey. - August 30: Two powder mills at v/ilming. ton, two men.killed. Shrapnel factory neat Baltimore crippled. " ..*■ November 10: Great fire and explosion! at Bethlehem steel works; many guns dQstroyed; no loss of life. • December 1: Thirty-one men killed an<S many wounded at Dupont works, Wilmington, by explosion which shattered windows within radius of four miles. • 1916.—January 9: Fifteen men killed and 50 wounded at Dupont powder plant aff . Carney's Point, near Philadelphia. January 11: Five explosions m two days at Dupont works, Wilmington ;no lives lost* May 15: Four further explosions at Du« ' pont ' factory at Gibbstown, New Jersey \\ 14 killed, 41 injured. .
