THE SALONIKA FRONT.

A French Salonika communique _ states that a most active artillery struggle is proceeding in tho Monastir-Cerna sector. A German battalion attacked the Russians after a powerful artillery preparation, but were stopped at the wire entanglements by machine gun fire. A local attack in the direction of Tirnova and west of Monastir failed. Bands of comitadjis supported tho attackers. Austrian troops attempted an offensive west .of Goritza, but were repulsed. British aeroplanes successfully attacked an aerodrome on the Deama. The French Headquarters' correspondent in Macedonia states that according to reliablo information and owing to popular dissatisfaction with the Germans rioting has broken out in several towns in Bulgaria, especially in the capital, Sofia, where the German cavalry charged the crowd. During the first of these demonstrations, which are spreading, there were numerous casualties. The Bulgarian troops in some cases sided with the population, and refused to attack tho demonstrators, and somo even joined them. The Daily Telegraph's Athens correspondent states that enormous crowds paraded the streets of Sofia. The Bulgars carried a real skull and crossbones, and denounced King Ferdinand and tho war with Germany. The military often fired, and many casualties resulted. General Sarrail's aviators dropped a proclamation- among the Bulgarian troops notifying that a popular military revolt had arisen in Bulgaria against the Germans. The proclamation also states that information has been received that antiGerman demonstrations by Bulgarian garrisons have started, and a revolt has broken out, especially at Sofia, wherq the troops and the people have risen against German tyranny. German platoons are traversing the streets firing on tho inhabitants. The proclamation also mentions America's action, and invites the Bulgarians to emulate the Russians.
