THE ANNIVERSARY OF CULLODEN.

TO THE EDITOR. Sin';—April 16 will bo the 171st anniversary of tho battle of Culloden, and for the past 20 years annual floral tributes have been placed on the memorial cairn erected on the battlefield by tho pood taste of the late Duncan Forbes, of Culloden. This yoar three wreaths were sent from New Zealand, bearing tho following inscriptions: — In memory of Prince Charles Edward and his devoted followers. - Love hang 3 about thy namo Like music round the shell; No heart could take of thee a tame Farewell. —From the Jacobite League in New Zealand. Another wreath was — Dedicated in honour of the brave and truo Highlanders who fell on that fatal day.— From Neil Mackenzie Forbes, Palmerston North. The third wreath was— In memory of the heroes of Culloden.— From a far-awav member of tho Cla* M'Donell. Taihape, N.Z. It is interesting to note that tributos have been sent to the lonely Drummossie Moor from all over the world—from Canada, the United States, and New Zealand—to help to keep the memory green of those brave men who, famished, exhausted, and broken,yet faced the Hanoverian army on that fatal April day so long ago, and died the death of heroes for Scotland and Prince Charlie.— 1 am ' et °- o.
