The skeleton of a man was found on the hills about 'm: mips from I.ianakau. It is supposed to I that of Peter Smith, a German, who hoot a sho:> at Otaki and has been missing -i;:.-e duly, 1911. The sum of £8 16s 8d silver was found near the skeleton. {<•-■• '.her with a silver watch and chain, ami silver iimr. These articles are known to have b; lone-d to Smith, and it is practically certain that the finding of the skeleton a mystery of several years’ standing.
