Whyte, in a review in the j Outlook of the progress of the new Pres- ! bytcrian Colleges', states that the four girls' colleges have enjoyed a remarkable popu- : larity as boarding 1 schools. lona College, Havclock North, had last year over 90 boarders, and refused about 50 further applications. St. Cuthbei't'a College, Auckland, is the largest girls' boarding school in the dominion. It has over 90 boarders and 200 day girls. Columba College, Dunedin, had about 60 boarders and 90 day girls, and it is understood that these figures will be considerably increased this year, tho Board I of Governors having leased another house, I making tho third house occupied by the | boarders. Solway College, Master ton, will j this year have at least 50 boarders. It I would seem also as if tiro demand for ! boys' colleges is as great as that for the training of girls. Scots College, Welling- , ton, had last year 70 pupils, of whom 23 i were boarders.
