At the Pahiatua Court a navvy was fined £3 and costs (38s 6d_) for destroying trout with an explosive in the Mangatainoka River. It was stated that 200 young trout wero killed by one explosion. A party of anglers had a night with the eels last week near Kelso (says the Tapanui Courier), and succeeded in taking between 40 and 50 out of the river.
