A third-class passenger on the Tainui, which is now at Auckland, died on the way out from Home. His name was Henry Bell, and he was bound with his family for Wellington, where he intended settling, lie had not been ill during the early part of the voyage, but on November 6 died from apoplexy. Deceased was 65 years of age. A kindly spirit was shown by the Greymouth waterside workers at Christmas, when they remembered the needs of the dependents of their comrades who are now at the front (says the Greymouth Evening News). They sjavo 10s to each child whose father is in the fighting line. The sum presented anruinted in all to £lO. one family receiving £2 10s.
