Sexgeaiit George James Samuel Poulter (killed in action in France) was the son of Mr and Mrs J. L. Poultor, of Blakctown, Creymouth He was educated at the Cobdcn School, and gained a national scholarship which entitled him to th'reo yeare free tuition at the Otago Boys' High School; where he passed the Civil Service examination in hi 3 second year, afbewards obtaining a position in the Union Bank at Greymouth. He left with the Third Reinforcements, and was four months on Gallipoli, where he contracted enterio and was sent to Malta, and subsequently

to Cardiff. On recovery ho was sent to Franco In August last. He was only 21 years of ago when ho was killed. Sergeant Archibald Cannichaol (killed in action In Frunca on November 15) left with tho Main Body, and was wounded twice In Gallipot. He was a son of Sirs W. Wilson, of Walmato, and a grandson of Ifx John Often, of Mount Cargill, and a nephew of Messrs .tames and George Often, of lhmedin. Ho was born In Kaitangata in 1895, and was educated at Port Chalmers. At the time of enlisting he was farming in the North It-land. Ho has a brother a sergeantmajor in the N.Z.P.A., who has been twice wounded, and is now in France. Tho latter loft with tho Main Body. Prior to his leaving with the Fourteenth Beinfon*ments Lance-corporal Bhyl Fleming, who was killed in action, was a cattlo buyer in tho Clutha district for tlie well-known moat exporter, Mr Fetor Cameron. Ho was a very popular man throughout tho district. Private Alexander Candlish (reported wounded on October 1) is the husband of Mrs M. Candlish, Bced street, Oamam. Previous to enlisting he wa3 in the employ of Messrs W. Waddell and 00. Private Candlish also Eaw fighting In the South African war., having joined the Afrioan Light Horso at Capetown.
