Tho epidemic of diptheria in Hawke'a Bay and Palmcrston North has now practically subsided. On November 23 Mr Rouch, a member of the Loyal Australia Felix Lodge, M.U., died at Burncy (Victoria). He had been on the sick funds of tho lodge for over 37 vcars, and received £979 6s 8d in sick pay, in addition ho received £lO funeral money on the death of his wife, and his family will now- receive- £2O funeral money, making a total of £IOO9 6s Bd. This (says tho Ago) should be an inducement to young men to join a friendly society.
