THE COST OF LIVING.
CONFERENCE OF WORKERS DESIRED. WANGANUI, December 21. Afc a general meeting of the Wanganui branch of the A.S.R.S. the following motion was carried: —"That the Executive Council bo requested to convene a conference of transport workers to consider the best means of combating (he increasing cost of living, the findings of the conference to be placed before the Government by a deputation. The following means are suggested:—lncreased wages, or preferably an immediate reduction in the cost of necessaries; failing success by this method, the council to call a general conference of all Labour unions, with a view to limiting the export of all necessary foodstuffa until the dominion prices for the same fall to a reasonable level."
