A number of the New Plymouth High School boys have secured positions on Taranaki farms during the vacation. This should help to relieve the labour difficulty in the busy summer season (says the News). # Somo idea of the size and destructive* ncss of the bombs being used by German aeroplanes on the Somme front is gained by reading a recent letter from a Canterbury officer. Ho says: "Fritz sends his aeroplanes over in the dark, and they drop bombs on u«. Last night (October 2) he dropped one into our horse lines anq killed 42 horses, besides wounding 30 other* —not a bad bag for one bomb."
