AUCKLAND. When tlio Makura was at Honolulu several firemen and trimmers were taken back to the vessel by the native jDoliee. As the ship moved away, an American soldier on the wharf fired his revolver, and the firemen retaliated with a shower of bottles. Fortunately nobody was injured, and it was seen by these On board that the soldier on the wharf who had fired his revolver had been arrested by the police. CANTERBURY. The Christohurch Presbytery has decided to establish St. Andrew's College for boys in Christohurch, and a Hoard of Governors was appointed. Presbyterians are to be asked to find £SOCO to cover the expenses of the first year or two.
