SOUTHLAND STOCK MARKET. (Froii Otjb Own Corhespoxd?:nt.) INVERCARGILL, December 15. In shock business, continues fairly good, the inquiry remaining keen for all classes. but there is not a very large quantity of any sort coming on the market. All classes arc as firm aft they have been of kite, and it does not look as if prices will recede much in the meantime. Northern operators have been busy during the week taking away both cattle and sheep, and. in fact, they would have purchased considerable quantities if they could have got them. In some lines, however, it is apparent, northern prices are not much higher than those of local buyers. The north appears to bo very anxious for gooel young ewes, but it is a little early for farmers to offer this class at presi nt. but in a week or two some lines should come on the market. Fat stock continues to sell well, and it is likely that when the works open in January there will be a very strong inquiry for fat stock of all descriptions, with prices very firm. GRAIN AND PRODUCE SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report:—Oats: The market lacks animation. Best oaten sheaf, £4 10s to £4 7 2s 6d; choice, to £4 15s; medium to good, £4 to £4 7s 6d per ton (sacks extra).

Messrs Donald Roid and Co. report: Oats: The market is quiet, and no business of importance can bo reported during 1 the past week.
