Information has been received from Pipiriki, 17 miles from Raetihi, that a man named Arthur IM'Cleland, aged 27 years, lost his life in the Wanganui River on Sunday week. Ho was supposed to have been bathing, and did not return. A search party found his clothes on the river bank. The body has not yet been recovered. In the annual report of Miss Digby's Commercial College, Christchureh (says the Press), it was stated that there had been an unprecedented demand during the year for shorthand-typistes and lady clerks, and over 350 permanent and temporary appointments had been obtained by pupils since last January.
