Sunday was a day of fierce heat in Christchurch, the- thermometer registering 91deg. The wind was from the north-west for the greater part of the day. The Oamaru Mail declares that Harbour street, for so many years the dustbin of Oamaru, is about to resume its place as an active centre owing - to the fact that Oamaru has been made a valuing port. Skylights are being put into all the stores available for the display of wool, and bulk stores are being swept and garnished.
