By Peter Pan.

December 15. Tho Gonsalcz Italian Grand Opera Company is meeting with its just reward. This week has seen an improvement in the rise of the audiences, and, as a local critic prophesied, the Grand Opera House will not be large enough to hold tho crowds who will flock to see thorn in their last week. Let me repeat that the company is a splendid one, every principal an artist, and on no account should the music-lovers of this Dominion miss this opportunity of hearing them in such a magnificent repertoire. John Fuller, sen., is down from Auckland, and has been a constant visitor to the Grand Opera House to hear the Italian Company, for whose visit we are indebted to his sons Ben and John, jun. Another picture house! Our Theatre, situated in Newtown, opened its doors this week, and on the first night gave tho whole of tho proceeds to the Returned Soldiers' Club Fund. The now house is a fine place, and in several ways 5s superior to some of the citv houses. At Petone there has been a matinee war between tho picture houses. The prices of admission for children at one theatre was lowered to one penny. The other house went one better (or worse) —two for a penny ! Eugene Ossipoff arrives from Sydney on Monday, and will give throe recitals this week at the Town Hall. Associated with Ossipoff are Miss Ethnee Clegg (mczzosoprano), Miss Bessie Rogers (elocutionist), and Miss Sylvia Roberts (pianist). Bert La Blanc's Travesty Stars are the big feature at His Majesty's this week. " Peg o' My Heart" and "Michael" and the other members of the company returned to Sydney this week. Mr John Tait was a passenger by the boat. Paul Dnfault and his concert company wont south this week. The tour of tho great French-Canadian singer will close -it Nelson on Boxing Night. The company will then leave for Sydney, en route to Java and the East. Fred Shipman left this week for Sydney to arrange matters.
